Fasting. The wisdom and it’s affectionate explanation
(Al Quran 2:183)
Allah Ta’ala (Jalla Jalalahu) is showing His divine favor and mercy by saying ‘O ye who believe! Fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you’. Allama Aloosi Syed Mahmood Baghdadi have said in Tafseer Roohul Ma’ani that this ayat is revealed to provide comfort by informing that Fasting is not difficult. Fast, as people before you did. It means that this evil doubt that comes to your mind about dying by being starved from sunrise to the sunset during the Fast (is false). No one ever died. The people before you did it and lived.
كَمَا كُتِبَ عَلَى الَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ
‘As it was prescribed to those before you’. The people before you had fast and they survived and no one ever died. So the suspicion of being starved to death by fasting, is fallacious. You will sustain. Because this is an order of the Sustainer. You will get a new life (energy) in your life by obeying His command.
لَعَلَّکُمْ تَتَّقُونَ
Why did I (the almighty Allah) made the Fasting obligatory? So that you can become a friend of Mine. You are only a slave right now. Believer enters into slavery by believing but you will only be crowned with My friendship when you will Fast. Are you all hearing the reward of Fasting? You are only a slave at the moment. If you Fast, I (the almighty Allah) will put the crown of My friendship on the head of your slavery. Because in another ayat Allah Ta’ala informs the believer اِنا اولیاء الالمتقون. ‘No one is My friend except those who are muttaqi (the pious)’. Those who abstain from sins.

Blessings of Namaz
celebrates His praises and kneels down before Him and touches the ground with his
forehead and makes earnest supplications to Him, he becomes worthy of His love and
beneficence, his sins are forgiven with every Namaz he offers, his heart attains
enlightenment and his life becomes pure. The Prophet (Peace be upon him) once gave an
excellent example to illustrate this truth. He asked his Companions, “Tell me, if a stream
flows at the door of anyone of you and he takes a dip in it five times a day will there be
left any grime on his body?” The Companions replied, “No, Sir. No grime will be left on
his body”. The Prophet (Peace be upon him) said, “It is exactly the same with the five
daily prayers. God removes all impurities and sins because of their auspiciousness".

Sha'ban: Merits, Do's, and Dont's
By Hazrat Mufti Mohammad Taqi Usmani sahib db
Sha'ban is one of the meritorious months for which we find some particular instructions in the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad, Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam. It is reported in the authentic ahadith that Prophet Muhammad, Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam, used to fast most of the month in Sha'ban. These fasts were not obligatory on him but Sha'ban is the month immediately preceding the month of Ramadan. Therefore, some preparatory measures are suggested by Prophet Muhammad, Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam. Some of these are given below:
1. The blessed companion Anas, Radi-Allahu anhu, reports that Prophet Muhammad, Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam, was asked, "Which fast is the most meritorious after the fasts of Ramadan?" He replied, "Fasts of Shaban in honor of Ramadan."
2. The blessed companion Usama ibn Zaid, Radi-Allahu anhu, reports that he asked Prophet Muhammad, Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam: "Messenger of Allah, I have seen you fasting in the month of Sha'ban so frequently that I have never seen you fasting in any other month." Prophet Muhammad, Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam, replied: "That (Sha'ban) is a month between Rajab and Ramadan which is neglected by many people. And it is a month in which an account of the deeds (of human beings) is presented before the Lord of the universe, so, I wish that my deeds be presented at a time when I am in a state of fasting."
3. Ummul Mu'mineen 'Aishah, Radi-Allahu anha, says, "Prophet Muhammad, Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam, used to fast the whole of Sha'ban. I said to him, 'Messenger of Allah, is Sha'ban your most favorite month for fasting?' He said, 'In this month Allah prescribes the list of the persons dying this year. Therefore, I like that my death comes when I am in a state of fasting."
4. In another Tradition she says, "Prophet Muhammad, Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam, would sometimes begin to fast continuously until we thought he would not stop fasting, and sometimes he used to stop fasting until we thought he would never fast. I never saw the Messenger of Allah, Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam, fasting a complete month, except the month of Ramadan, and I have never seen him fasting in a month more frequently than he did in Sha'ban."
5. In another report she says, "I never saw the Messenger of Allah, Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam, fasting in a month so profusely as he did in the month of Sha'ban. He used to fast in that month leaving only a few days, rather, he used to fast almost the whole of the month."
6. Ummul-Mu'mineen Umm Salamah, Radi-Allahu anha, says: "I have never seen the Messenger of Allah fasting for two months continuously except in the months of Sha'ban and Ramadan."
These reports indicate that fasting in the month of Sha'ban, though not obligatory, is so meritorious that Prophet Muhammad, Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam, did not like to miss it.
But it should be kept in mind that the fasts of Sha'ban are for those persons only who are capable of keeping them without causing deficiency in the obligatory fasts of Ramadan. Therefore, if one fears that after fasting in Sha'ban, he will lose strength or freshness for the fasts of Ramadan and will not be able to fast in it with freshness, he should not fast in Sha'ban, because the fasts of Ramadan, being obligatory, are more important than the optional fasts of Sha'ban. That is why Prophet Muhammad, Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam, himself has forbidden the Muslims from fasting one or two days immediately before the commencement of Ramadan. The blessed Companion Abu Hurairah, Radi-Allahu anhu, reports Prophet Muhammad, Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam, to have said, "Do not fast after the first half of the month of Sha'ban is gone."
According to another report Prophet Muhammad, Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam has said: "Do not precede the month of Ramadan with one or two fasts."
The essence of the above-quoted ahadith is that Prophet Muhammad, Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam, himself used to fast most of the month of Sha'ban, because he had no fear of developing weakness or weariness before the commencement of Ramadan. As for others, he ordered them not to fast after the 15th of Sha'ban for the fear that they would lose their strength and freshness before Ramadan starts, and would not be able to welcome the month of Ramadan with enthusiasm.

Difference In Salaat Between Men And Women
There are a few differences with regards to the postures adopted by men and women when offering salaat. They are as follows: 1. If a man is covered with a sheet or shawl, then at the time of saying takbeer-e-tahreemah he has to take out his hands from under the shawl and raise them upto his ears if there is no need to keep them inside. For example, when it is cold, he still has to take them out. As for women, under all conditions they have to keep their hands inside and raise them upto their shoulders. 2. After saying the takbeer-e-tahreemah, men have to clasp their hands below the navel while women have to clasp them on their chests. 3. When clasping the hands, men have to place the right hand over the left hand in such a way that the thumb and little finger encircles the left wrist with the remaining three fingers extended along the left arm. A woman has to place her right palm over the back of her left hand and she should not form a circle with the right hand, nor should she clasp her left hand. 4. In ruku men have to bow down quite low, to the extent that their heads, hips, and backs are in line. Women should not go so low down. Instead, they should only bow down to the extent that their hands touch their knees. 5. In ruku, men should spread out their fingers and place them on their knees while women should not do this. Instead, they should keep their fingers together when placing them on their knees. 6. In ruku, men should keep their elbows away from their sides while women should keep them close to their sides. 7. In sajdah, men should keep their stomachs away from their thighs and their arms away from their sides while women have to keep all these parts close together. 8. In sajdah, men should raise their elbows above the ground while women should place them on the ground. 9. In sajdah, men should keep the toes upright while women should not do this. 10. In the sitting posture, men should sit on their left leg and the fingers of the right leg should be upright. Women have to sit on their left buttock and both their legs should point towards the right hand side in such a way that the right thigh comes over the left thigh and the right calf over the left calf. 11. Women do not have the choice of offering their salaat aloud under any circumstances. They should always offer all their salaats in a soft voice. |

Three knots
Narrated by Abu Huraira (Radhiallaho anho): Allah's Messenger (sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) said,
"Satan puts three knots at the back of the head of any of you if he is asleep. On every knot he reads and exhales the following words, 'The night is long, so stay asleep.' When one wakes up and remembers Allah, one knot is undone; and when one performs ablution, the second knot is undone, and when one prays the third knot is undone and one gets up energetic with a good heart in the morning; otherwise one gets up lazy and with a mischievous heart."
